[September of Short Adventures] Day 1: A Skirmish with Soused Satyrs

And we're off. And sure enough I have a case of writer's block. Even though I made a personal list of different settings and story types to draw from, it has taken me a while to get to this point. Finally I just decided to take one of the magic containers from Hitting the Bottle Week and design an adventure around it. So here we go.

A Skirmish with Soused Satyrs

Game System: Any fantasy RPG with a decent level of magic.

Adventure Hook: The characters here stories of creatures appearing in the middle of the night and stirring up trouble. No one has been injured, but there has been quite a bit of property damage and the locals are scared out of their wits. The trouble lasts for only a few minutes, then the creatures disappear without a trace.

Background: The local drubk has managed to get his hands on a wineskin of satyr summoning, and uses it nightly to round up some 'drinking buddies' for a night on the town. The satyrs basically cause a ruckus. Though they never provoke a fight themselves, they are mean drunks and will confront anyone that hassles their "friend".

Red Herring(s): A mysterious man in strange robes moved into the town a week before the troubles began. The man is a low-level wizard, but his expertise is more in plant life than the supernatural.

Monster(s): Satyr- AC: 6; HD: 2+2; Dmg: 1d4 (punch or kick) or 1d6 (charge, requires 20' running distance); Save: MU 3; Morale: 10; Alignment: N; Exp: 35; Treasure: None

  1. Drunken Satyrs would make an interesting encounter. This adventure fits in nicely anywhere. Good stuff! I look forward to more.

  2. Thanks. When I came up with the wineskin for "Hitting the Bottle Week", I had a pretty good idea of how I would introduce it into a game. This seems the most fitting way.
