85 Days Till GaryCon! What To Do When You're Not Gaming.

So you wrap up your session of gaming, and realize that there are hours to be spent between when that event ended and the next one begins. You have all this free time now available that you didn't consider. What do you do? What can you do?

Hit the Bar
Fortunately, The Lodge has a bar that is open most of the day and night. So if you are over 21, this is definitely an option. The bar also becomes a desired social destination late at night when most people are done gaming and ready to unwind. GaryCon has even arranged a special price on New Glarus Spotted Cow while you're there. Toss some dice during the day, toss back a few beers at night. Just don't drink too much and toss your dinner afterwards.

Visit Downtown Lake Geneva
Lake Geneva is a resort town, so downtown has plenty of shops and restaurants to visit. If you happen to be one of those people with significant others that aren't into gaming, then this is going to be one of those things that might placate them while you're having fun. Even if you are just out for some fresh air and sightseeing, it's not a long distance from The Lodge for a short trip.

The Next Door Pub
Despite the name, this place is not next door to the hotel. The Next Door Pub is actually a mile from the hotel and worth the drive for some good food. I first hit this place with a bunch of con-goers at GaryCon II, and it has become an annual trek for my brother and I ever since. the pizza is incredible and a pretty good beer selection as well. If you're hungry and have friends that are available, then you can't go wrong visiting this place.

And Finally...
Not gaming? Seriously? Why would you go to GaryCon and not game? There is always something running that has an opening. Even if the tables are full, there's the open gaming area upstairs with plenty of people just looking for someone with some free time to kill playing a board or strategy game. If you really need a drink or some food, then bring it to your table. There is gaming to be done and GaryCon only comes once a year.

Time is not to be wasted. Game on.
